We are currently recruiting for the following project:

RNA Therapeutics Asset Landscaping and Clinical Development Analysis

Who we are:

BCBA connects academic science trainees and recent graduates to the Bay Area’s biotech industry through hands-on consulting and due diligence projects. We are a volunteer organization composed of PhD students, post-docs, medical trainees, and young professionals looking to gain professional development for jobs in biotech companies, consulting, and venture capital. Over 500 scientists from across the country have participated in BCBA projects and have gone on to internships and full-time positions with leading biotech companies, consulting firms, and venture capitals firms.

Project timeline: Week of Jan 21st – Week of April 15th, 2025(12 weeks total)

Who you are:

  • Graduate or professional student (PhD, MS, MBA, MD, PharmD), postdoc, or recent graduate
  • Enthusiastic about gaining life science business experience by analyzing market landscapes and exploring therapeutic development opportunities in RNA therapeutics
  • Eager to develop communication skills through team collaboration, consulting-style presentations, and engaging with clients to deliver findings
  • Interest or research experience in areas such as RNA biology and therapeutics, market analysis, competitive landscaping, therapeutic target evaluation, drug development, or translational research
  • Able to commit 10-15 hours/week in a volunteer capacity

What you will do:

You will be working with an RNA biotech startup to analyze the therapeutic landscape and clinical assets for RNA therapeutic development, with a focus on antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) and small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutics. Your responsibilities will include identifying clinical-stage and discontinued trials, as well as FDA approved drug assets to develop detailed profiles for each, covering scientific and technological analyses, therapeutic applications, RNA modality innovations, development roadmaps, and risk assessments. Additionally, you will conduct in-depth case studies on representative assets to define successful clinical endpoints and key milestones required for RNA therapeutic approval. You will also compare RNA therapeutics with other treatment modalities, highlighting their respective strengths and weaknesses. This comprehensive analysis will equip the client with a clear understanding of the current RNA therapeutic landscape and provide strategic insights for designing effective clinical trials and advancing toward a successful drug launch.

What you will get:

  • Experience conducting consulting-style research including market analysis, clinical trial analysis, scientific due diligence, competitive landscaping, and case study analysis
  • Development of your professional network and communication skills through interactions with the client, stakeholders, your teammates, and BCBA leadership
