Integrated Clinical, Scientific, and Market Assessment for a Novel Genomic Medicine Platform
by | December 27th, 2025
We are currently recruiting for the following project: Integrated Clinical, Scientific, and Market Assessment for a Novel Genomic Medicine Platform

Who we are:
BCBA connects academic science trainees and recent graduates to the Bay Area’s biotech industry through hands-on consulting and due diligence projects. We are a volunteer organization composed of PhD students, post-docs, medical trainees, and young professionals looking to gain professional development for jobs in biotech companies, consulting, and venture capital. Over 500 scientists from across the country have participated in BCBA projects and have gone on to internships and full-time positions with leading biotech companies, consulting firms, and venture capital firms.
Project timeline: Week of Jan 5th – Week of March 2nd, 2026 (9 weeks total)
Who you are:
- Graduate or professional student (PhD, MS, MBA, MD, PharmD), postdoc, or recent graduate
- Enthusiastic about gaining life science business experience by analyzing market landscapes and exploring therapeutic development opportunities in genomic medicines
- Eager to develop communication skills through team collaboration, consulting-style presentations, and engaging with clients to deliver findings
- Interest or research experience in areas such as genomics, market analysis, competitive landscaping, drug development, or translational research
- Able to commit 10-15 hours/week in a volunteer capacity
- Bonus: knowledge of or research experience in metabolic disease, lysosomal disease, or infectious disease.
What you will do:
You will work closely with a preclinical-stage genomic medicines company to help shape the clinical and commercial strategy for their novel genomic medicine platform. Your role will involve evaluating seven priority indications through integrated clinical, scientific, and commercial research. This will include reviewing current and emerging standards of care, mapping patient journeys, and identifying underserved patient populations (with a focus on genetic subsets) with unmet need. You will analyze primary scientific literature, industry reports, market databases and other available data to assess how the client’s technology compares with existing and emerging therapies, and conduct stakeholder interviews to understand clinician, patient, and regulatory perspectives on adoption. You will also assess market size, the competitive position of the company’s target product profile, and access considerations to evaluate the real-world feasibility of each indication. Through this work, you will develop and present an evidence-based recommendation for 1–2 lead indications, their market potential, and an outline of potential clinical development and trial design strategies to support the platform’s path toward the clinic.
What you will get:
- Experience conducting consulting-style research including market analysis, clinical trial analysis, scientific due diligence, primary interviewing, and competitive landscaping
- Development of your professional network and communication skills through interactions with the client, stakeholders, your teammates, and BCBA leadership
- Skills that will make you highly competitive for entrepreneurial, consulting, venture capital, and business development careers
- Reimbursement for meals during team meetings
