BCBA Venture Advisory group is recruiting a multi-institutional team of experts for a project with a top tier VC firm. The team will perform a landscape analysis of companies and research groups leveraging lab automation and AI in synthetic chemistry to accelerate small molecule drug development.

Particular focus will be in conducting primary and secondary research to gather actionable insights on acceleration of medicinal chemistry workflows, building of synthetic libraries, and supplying precursors for drug discovery. The team will evaluate the following key areas:

1. current industry benchmarks for effectiveness
2. landscape analysis of companies, academics, and other groups
3. current pain points and opportunities in the field.

Team members will be guided by BCBA leadership. Results of these evaluations will be presented to the VC client and be utilized to inform investment decisions.

Project Timeline:

Late May – mid July 2023, 6-8 weeks

Eligibility Requirements:

• Applicants must be graduate or professional students (i.e. PhD, MD, PharmD), postdocs, clinical residents or early industry professionals.
• Time commitment is expected to be 10-15 hrs/wk and is volunteer based (unpaid).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry (assay development/screening, and/or small molecule drug development is a plus), AI/bioinformatics, synthetic chemistry, structural biology, computational biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, polymer engineering, and computer-assisted drug design.
• Preference will be given to candidates with 3+ years in graduate studies and/or 6+ of lab experience, postdocs, and early industry professionals.
• Prior experience in due diligence, consulting, market research, business development, or industry is a plus, but not required.
