Clinical Landscape and Investment Opportunities in Inflammation & Immunology
Who we are:
BCBA connects academic science trainees and recent graduates to the Bay Area’s biotech industry through hands-on consulting and due diligence projects. We are a volunteer organization composed of PhD students, post-docs, medical trainees, and young professionals looking to gain professional development for jobs in biotech companies, consulting, and venture capital. Over 450 scientists from across the country have participated in BCBA projects and have gone on to internships and full-time positions with leading biotech companies, consulting firms, and venture capitals firms.
Project timeline: mid March – end of June, 2025 (12 weeks total)
Who you are:
- A graduate/professional student (PhD, MS, MBA, MD, PharmD), postdoc, or recent graduate.
- Enthusiastic about gaining life science business experience, analyzing clinical assets, and evaluating investment opportunities to drive business decisions in the inflammation and immunology space.
- Prior experience in due diligence, consulting, market research, business development, or I&I industry is a plus but not required.
- Able to commit 10-15 hours per week as a volunteer.
What you will do:
You will be working with a leading life science investment firm that is evaluating the clinical development landscape within the inflammation and immunology (I&I) field, with a focus on the clinical pipeline and existing diagnostic tools. Your role will involve conducting a comprehensive market sizing and assessing the current clinical landscape in the I&I field. This includes identifying existing therapeutics and mapping the pipeline of drugs in development by pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Additionally, you will analyze market opportunities for a diagnostics product, conduct a scientific review to evaluate its scientific rationale and commercialization potential, and provide strategic recommendations to guide investment decisions.
