Search and evaluation of novel immune-oncology and tumor microenvironment targets to support BD&L

by | August 1, 2022

Project timeline: Mid August – Mid November 2022, 10-12 weeks

Who you are:

  • A graduate or professional student (i.e. PhD, MD, PharmD, MBA, MS), postdoc, clinical resident,
    or recent graduate
  • Enthusiastic about gaining life-science business experience and helping a company identify how
to best develop and apply their technology
  • Interest or experience in some of the following categories: cancer biology, drug discovery,
    pharmacology, industry research, consulting
  • Able to commit 10-15 hours/week as a volunteer

What you will do:

You will be working with a company that has developed a revolutionary patient-derived tumor modeling platform for precision diagnostics and next generation oncology drug discovery. The company is deploying its technology for novel drug discovery and is looking for a team of highly skilled cancer biologists to lead search and evaluation activities to identify state-of-the-field immune-oncology targets and therapeutic assets for potential business development and licensing (BD&L) activities.

To accomplish this, you and your BCBA teammates will:

  • Identify and prioritize contemporary therapeutic targets for solid tumor cancers
  • Identify and prioritize therapeutic assets and technologies with the potential to modulate identified targets

You will work closely with the Company’s Head of Corporate Development and other company leadership throughout the project and will learn first-hand how biotechnology companies identify and prioritize drug discovery and BD&L activities around novel enabling technology platforms.

What you will gain:

  • Experience working on a diverse team to solve an open-ended and challenging business problem
  • Experience conducting target and asset prioritization in collaboration with a strong solid cancer team in industry
  • An opportunity to work directly with the client and gain professional training in business
    development
