Biotech Career Perspective: Strategy and Business Development in Biotech

by | August 8, 2017

Ben Cohn is a member of the business development group at MyoKardia, where he helps conduct search and evaluation for new licensing and partnership opportunities within the growing landscape of genetically-driven cardiomyopathies. He also leads competitive intelligence efforts to monitor potential entrants affecting strategic decision-making at the molecule program level.

Prior to MyoKardia, Ben worked in corporate strategy and translational research at the rare disease company Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical, where he helped build the company’s competitive intelligence program.

Ben helped found the non-profit Biotech Connection – Bay Area while in grad school and has at various points served as president and board member. He holds an MS in Immunology from UCSF and a BA in Biochemistry from Grinnell College.

In an informal setting, Ben will share lessons learned in transitioning from grad school to industry, as well as how business development and competitive intelligence work at a pre-commercial stage biotech startup.  Please bring your questions.
